Effective date: October 20, 2026 · Flamme by Hearthside Works
Flamme is a recipe app. Most of it works entirely on your phone. If you choose to create an account, a small amount of information is stored on our servers so you can follow friends and share recipes with them. This policy explains exactly what, why, and how to delete it.
Everything you create in Flamme is saved in the app's private storage on your device: recipes, photos, ratings, notes, shopping list, meal plans, Cooking Together plans and settings. If you uninstall the app, that data is deleted with it. We can't see it.
You sign in with Google. Flamme has no passwords and never asks for one.
What we store, and why:
| Information | Why |
|---|---|
| Your email address and Google account ID | To recognise you when you sign in. Never shown to other people, never used for marketing. |
| Your @handle and display name (you choose them) | So friends can find and recognise you. |
| The recipes you share: name, ingredients, directions, times, course, links, and whether you favorited or hid them | So the friends you approved can see them. Ratings, scaling and notes stay on your phone. |
| Photos you add to shared recipes | So friends can see them. Every photo is redrawn and stripped of all hidden data — location, phone model, date and time — on your phone before upload. |
| Who you follow, who follows you, requests, blocks | To decide who can see what. |
| Emoji reactions | To show reactions on recipes. |
| Reports you file | So we can review abuse. The person you report isn't told who reported them. |
| A notification token (if you allow notifications) | To deliver important announcements, such as maintenance. |
What we don't keep: Google also shares your full name and profile picture when you sign in. Flamme deletes them automatically at every sign-in. We never collect your location, contacts, or anything from other apps.
These rules are enforced by the database itself, not just by the app.
Links inside a friend's recipe always ask before opening, and show the real website. Pictures in a friend's recipe only load from Flamme's own storage or from the same website as the recipe, so other sites can't track you through images.
When you paste a link to import a recipe, the app fetches that web page directly, the same way your browser would. Nothing about you is added to the request.
Flamme relies on a few companies to run. They process data only on our behalf:
All connections are encrypted (HTTPS).
We keep account data for as long as you have an account. When you delete your account, your profile, shared recipes, photos, follows, followers, reactions, share links, reports you filed and notification token are deleted from our servers immediately. Recipes saved on your phone stay there. Copies of a recipe that a friend chose to save are theirs.
To delete: Profile → Account → Delete account in the app, or sign in at myflamme.app/delete-account.
Flamme isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we'll delete it.
If we change how data is handled, we'll update this page and announce the change in the app before it takes effect.
